How it all began

With a well planned layout, the school building drawings were developed and approved by the relevant authorities and work started in earnest in 2005 and was completed in early 2008. Two blocks were erected, one for the academic section and the other for administration. The School Hall, Classrooms, Staff rooms, Sick Bay, Sports store, Science Laboratories, Library, ICT Laboratory, Music Studio, Fine art studio and other facilities were then equipped accordingly.

A formal application for approval to commence was made to the Rivers State Ministry of Education in June 2008. We became a Government approved School in June 2011.

Staff were, in the meantime, recruited through an open interview with a panel of Educationists. Emphasis was placed on teaching qualification and relevant experience. A total of 19 teachers were recruited to cover all the subjects, with a non academic staff of 7 to cover other duties. The first batch of students admitted numbered 21.Academic work kicked off on the 22nd of September 2008.We presently offer admission into JS 1 – SS 3.

  • Non partisan & Global Acceptance  The school is non-partisan, non-denominational and non-discriminatory. The only criteria for admission are academic merit and the willingness to do one's best to achieve excellence. The school embraces internationalism in its widest sense. Education is a global phenomenon; as such, we seek excellence wherever it is to be found and use it to raise our standards.
  • Productive teaching FAMVAR International Secondary School teaching Method ensures that pupils become confident and independent learners who are adequately prepared for both local and international universities. The first three years of our secondary school system serve to introduce the pupils to more advanced study skills in preparation for the Junior WAEC Examination which takes place in JSS3. The Junior WAEC Examination, taken in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, Integrated Sciences, C.R.K, Civic Education etc to give a better understanding of the pupils' strengths and weaknesses in preparation for subject choices in future.

  • No Religious Affiliation Our school has no formal links to any religious denomination, though the school has always acknowledged its Christian tradition. Children from all faiths are welcomed and supported. We believe that true faith is measured in the quality of our everyday lives, in our relationship with others, in our willingness to serve and in the power of what we practise rather than preach. Our values celebrate the diversity of beliefs which are represented in the school. Our students are encouraged to think creatively and independently. The spirit of healthy competition and cooperation is encouraged through sports and other activities. In this way, they learn about leadership and teamwork - the glory of winning and the importance of losing gracefully, yet with a determination to strive to do better next time.
